Salmon oil is rich in omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. This is significant to domesticated animals because carnivores, in their natural habitat, are able to obtain pre-formed long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids from the internal organs of their prey and do not require their own metabolic route for synthesis. The addition of LCPUFA’S, DHA AND EPA in the diets of dogs and, to a greater extent cats, are essential for the health and longevity.
